Dr. O'Dell accepts role as academic leader

My name is Aerin O’Dell and I’m pleased to be joining the Excelsior Springs School District team next year as the Assistant Superintendent for Academic Services.  I’ve spent all my 21 years as an educator in nearby Orrick where I’ve been an elementary teacher, elementary counselor, high school Spanish teacher, and 7-12 principal. I’ve spent the last 6 years as the district’s superintendent doing everything from developing technology integration to running the budget to planning professional development to leading construction projects. I am beyond thrilled to have the opportunity to focus solely on academic services next year and with a group of educators with such a great reputation for excellence.

On a personal note, my husband and I have been married for 20 years and have a very active family. We have 3 daughters – Madison who is a freshman at Mizzou majoring in hospitality management and event planning; Audrey who is a freshman in high school and plays volleyball, basketball, and softball; and Reese who is in 5th grade and spends half her time upside down as a gymnast. I would get in trouble if I also did not include Cocoa, our dog, who is spoiled rotten by all of us.

As I live nearby, I hope to start meeting people sooner rather than later. I’m really looking forward to getting to know everyone and learning how I can best assist in reaching the district’s mission of working to together to discover potential, explore passions, and develop leadership for all learners.
